BOXING
UREN t. VOLAIRE. Judging from the crowded attendance at the Holland v. Uren contest patrons of the sport of boxing fully appreciate tho efforts of the local Boxing Association to provide a tournament at regular intervals. At the present time probably the two best lightweights in Australasia are Havilah Uren and Eugene Volaire, and tho association has been fortunate: enough to arrange a contest, between the two and this is to* take place at the Town Hall on Thursday, June 10th, In an exhibition given recently in the Town Hall followers of the sport had aaopportunitw of seeing the two men in action, and both showed that they were not only clever exponents, but boxers of the" vigorous, hard-hitting type. There should be little doubt but what ' their meeting hero will attract considerable attention. The association has fixed the admission charges on the lowest possible basis. Tha box plan will open at tho association's office, Featherstori street, on Monday morning at 10 o’clock, when seats for the stage, ringside, and gallery over ring-may be booked until 5 o’clock each day. Sales of tickets for other portions of the hall wall be announced at a latex stage. At last night's meeting of th© committee of the association it was decided to promote the annual amateur championship meeting on or. about Juno 29th and 30th. and intending competitors should apply to the secretary for definite information. ■
