WATERSIDE WORKERS
MONTHLY STOP-WORK MEETING,
Tho Wellington Waterside /Workers Union held their monthly stop-work meeting yesterday/ Mr L. Glovor presid, ins over an attendance of 1509 members. A recommendation from tho executive that a deputation from the union should wait upon the Seamen's Union in regard to an interchange of members was adopt.
' The resignation of Mr. E E. Bugdca as delegate representing the stevedore section was received. ; . V )ina .of action to enforce payment of. fines imposed upon members -who did not vote on certain occasions tvas dei;ided upon. . • . The question of adjusting the salaries, of tho secretary and assistant secretary was considered. In each case an in-* crease of Ms P»r week, to operate from February Ist last, was agreed to. It was decided that a resolution bs forwarded to tho federation , executive nskin" that the -employers be met in order to consider the reduction of hour* for tho engagement of labour. Tho men -ontended that too much time was lost in "hanging around the. wharves wait ing for work."
