TRAINING NOTES FROM ELLERSLIE. The weather was most unfavourable for training operations on Saturday morning, a cold piercing southerly wind blowing across the course, accompanied by heavy rain squalls, the conditions being trie worst experienced for years Parisian Diamond and Asterina alone, did strong half-pace work. Tabasco and Llansannor were together at the end ot six furlongs in lmin 2lsec.' Genoral Stephen easily beat Gluotanus over a round run in 2min 2 2-ss(c. Bedford spurted four furlongs in 54seo. Kockfield, Besant and Biuo Cross were companions over' six furlongs run in lmin lifcec. Glencanny pleased better than No Mistake over a furlong less in Imm lOuec. Taunaha appeared to be going easier than Cashmere at the end _ot seven furlongs in lmin SJsec. Novation alone galloped six furlongs, the last five taking lmin 9 1-oaec. Comedy Prince and Pepin were togethor with Aircraft some lengths away at the finish of six furlonga in lmin 19sec. Golden Bubble and Lady Ball were together at the end of a similar task in lmin 18sec. Mountain Gold and Nunerrant traversed the same ground, taking lmin 20 3-ssec. Luporino covered a couple of rounds at a stronj? pace, pulling up well. Ohinewairua spurted four furlongs in 50seo. North Loburn beating Utu over a furlong further in lmin 6 4-ssec, TJtu tak« ing lmin lOseo. - (All the foregoing horses worked on the sand.) On tho inside graas track tho following work was done: — Ngata and Ruddy were the first timed on the inside grass, the pair being together at the end of five furlongs run ;in lmin 11 l-ssec. Kerehone easily beat Dead Sweet over six furlongs in lmin 26 3-ssec. Flowing Bowl and Jocular spurted four furlongs in 57soc. King Abbey alone galloped six furlongs, the last four taking 56sec. Omabu and Yankee Jack were not doing their best to cover six furlongs in lmin 28 2-ssec. Trespass alone covered six furlongs in linin 25£ec. A. J. McFlian will ride,tho son of Tressad.y in .the Cornwall Handicap. Savourueen, Koiira and Totara Jack were companions over a round, which took lmin 58=ec. Queen Abbey galloped six furlongs, the last five taking lmin 12sec. ' Mangamahoe alone covered a round, running home the last seven furlongs without doing his best in lmin -ISsec. Monocrat was too good for Loyal Lass over six furlongs, run in lmin 26 1-osec. A lot of others also exercised. " Royal Scot and Cambridge jumped five pf the brush hurdles, the latter making a much better showing than on Thursday. • • " ■ Slowcoach, Cynic, Lard Nagar, and Pendoon were companions over the five hurdles on the courso proper. Slowcoach started in front of the others, but tried to get o/£ the course, just after passing tho old xnilo post, and also hit the last hurdle-hard. Lord Nagar and Cynic finished together with Pendoon handy, the former appearing to be going the stronger at the end of tho journey. , Gladful. Old Mungindi,' and Peneton were sont a round of the biff fences, jumping both the water and tho double, bouthland accompanying them over the obstacles in the centre of tho course. Old Mungindi and Peneton were well in front of their companion when they camo to the double. Old Mungindi Tunning it down, and takiag Peneton ofi with him, the pair going on and finishing over the stone wall. The quartet fenced well. Lady Enorgy jumped a pony hurdle, and then accompanied Mary Bruce over four of the bigger ones, the p;iir getting through their task without mistake .although jumping very slowly. YESTERDAY MORNING'S WORK. ' FBO r-BESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, May 31. The weather was beautiful for training at Ellerslie this morning. Work generally waa restricted to strong pacing. Royal Albert went six furlongs inside the grass truck in lmin 24sec, and Mangamahoe did the game distance, the last four furlongs in 57sec. Hyllun did four furlongs in 57aeo. Luporino went two rounds on the sand at a strong pace, sprinting home over four furlongs in 58 2-ssec. Karoao did. four furlongs on the sand in 53500. Yankee Jack and Ornahu jumped' four ■ hurdles in good style. Meltchikoff; with the assistance of Attila, over the first two, did a similar task. Normnnbr jumped eight hurdles without a mistako.
