LYALL BAY AFFAIRS
SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTION
DECLARED NULL AND VOID. Matters pertaining to .the Lyall Bay school committee election and" certain irregularities alleged. to have occurred in connection therewith were further discussed at a special meeting of the Education Board yesterday. The report of .tho executive on tho inquiry into the annual meeting of householders and election of the Lyall Bay committee was as under: — "In accordance with the resolution of the. board, tho executive on Friday, 21st inst., formally inquired into tho conduct of iiiho annual meeting ot householders held in the Lyall Bay Bohool on April 28th. "Tho inquiry was attended by: Messrs Forsyth, Field, Wright, Shaiid, and Clark —representing the Education Board's executive; Messrs Croskcry, Gilbert, Raven, Wells, and another — representing the Lyall Bay school committeo; Messrs Geliatly, Donovan and Palliser—reuprosonting the petitioners.
"Tho conduct of this meeting generally; and tho various points raised 03- tho 'petitioners, were- thoroughly inquired into. In view of all the circumstances, the executive is of opinion that tho election of tho present committee should be declared null audi void, and that another meeting of householders should be held as early as possible* for tho purpose of electing a fresh committee."
At the special meeting of the Education Board held yesterday afternoon, the recommendation of the executive wa a adopted. Tho date fixed for the second meeting of the householders is Thursday, Junot 24th.
