THE TOWN BELT
ITS ANNEXATION OPPOSED. The reserves and forestry committee views with concern tho repeated attempts to make use of the Town Belt tor purposes other than that which it was originally intended. Th 9 original area of, the Town Belt, states tho annual rcpoH of the TownPlanning Association, was 1519 acres, and of this no fewer than 400 acres, or cveA more, bad been annexed. Sonio months ago tho association entered a protest against tho proposal to erect schools on tho Town Bc'it, yeb that same suggestion was made again not many weeks n.no at a council meeting. Tho Town Belt was common property and no part of it should be reserved for tho exclusive use of any body of people. Tho forming of children's playgrounds should receive first attention and the most accessible level sites set apart for that purpose. However, a proper plan of tho Town Belt should bo prepared without delay, so that the whole area might be systematically developed. Until this was done this great reserve would never be used as it ought to be unci as it was intended it should bo.
