WORKERS' TRAM TICKETS

PROTEST AGAINST ABOLITION. At a meeting of tho Thorndon branch of tho Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants hold yesterday the question of tho abolition of workers’ tickets on the tramways was discussed and the following resolution carried; "That this branch records its emphatic protest to tho Prime Minister against tho decision of tho City Council to abolish workers’ tickets on tho tramways. Wo earnestly point out tho hardship this Imposes on workers who are living in outlying districts. Wo are of opinion that such concessions were granted in order to minimise conEofth'bn in tho city, and wo request tho Prime Minister to withhold granting nn Order-in-Counoil until the matter is considered by Parliament.”
