EXCEPTIONAL CONDITIONS IN CHRISTCHURCH. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, May 29. Thoro has been exceptionally severe weather to-day. A. great deal of hail fell during tho afternoon, amt to-night the whole countryside is white. A good deal of is now lias fallen on the high country. HEAVY TOE SOUTH. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. ' DUNEDIN, May 30. Severe’ weather has prevailed hero during the past three days, the temperature is very low. Snow has fallen all over the province, and heavy falls ara reported from the high country On Saturday at 4 p.ra. eighteen inches was lying, in Arrqwtown, and it was then snowing heavily. At Cromwell very little snow fell on the flats, hut tho surrounding hills received a heavy coating On the low lands* in Upper Chitlin. snow is lying at a depth of six inches, and at tho Kingston Garston, and Athol districts heavy falls have been experienced. The conditions show no sign of improvement. hurricantTat MASTERTON. (Bv Telegraph—Special to "Times.”) MASTER TON, May 30. Maslcrton was visited by a violent smith-westerly gale on Saturday night. Tho wind blow with hurricane force, while rain and hail carlo down in torrents. Tho rivers nro fn flood,, and much low-lying country is under water. The gale continues, though it has somewhat abated. AT OTAKI. Tho Otaki correspondent of the "Times” reports a heavy fall of snow on tho ranges thoro, with bitterly cold ______
