The Agricultural Society is making efforts to promote an annual carnival week in Wanganui, the intention being to b,old tho Jockey Club and Trotting Club meetings, the autumn show, a regatta, a sports gathering, and competitions, as well as arranging tor evening entertainments. To-night a deputation waited on the Jockey Club with a request thnt the club should; if possible.- fix the dates of its February meeting n fortnight earlier th'in usual. The deput.fit.ion received a ..most favourable hearing.
