RAILWAY ACCIDENTS
CAR SMASHED OCCUPANT ESCAPES. Press Association. DANNEIVIKKE, June 4. A miraculous escape from a. fatal accident occurred this morning at Allafdice street crossing, when a motorcar driven by -Mrs ■. Fisher, of Tere-. hunga, collided with a train. Mrs Fisher was the only oqc,upant of the ( car, and she was thijow-ffi to [.fliej front part of the car, tho cushion, with her on it, being then caught by the engine's cowrcatcher- and carried about 100 yards till the train was. pulled up. Mrs Fisher sustained bruises, and is suffering from' shock. , The car -was smashed to splinters. ~.:,■
BRAKE INSPECTOR-.INJURED.

Justin inspector on the railway, was walking along the line near Palmerston station last night, when he was overtaken by the second Auckland express, which threw him off the line, breaking one leg and fracturing a rib. He was taken to the hospital, where he is progressing satisfactorily. _______
