MEETING OF-MANAGEMENT -:•■■■ COMMITTEE. ■■■■■ .
~The. management committee of. the Wellington; Rugby Union "met last evening, Mr \V. V. ilbrnig presiding. The' chairman announced that, the Maori team's share oi the proceedings of tile New Zealand tour, were to be handed ■ over to .the, Newl Zealand Rugby Union, |whioh body -would' hold'the money in trust-for the purposo of fostering Maori football in New Zealand. With regard to the Wellington match, a committee re-commended-that 50 per cent, of the gate be donated to the fund, and the committee's action was endorsed. It; was stated that the Athletic Pari trustees had questioned the union's right to donate the money directly, it being stipulated that the takings should be handed over to the trustees arid paid cut by,them- It was decided to interview the trustees on the matter. Mr Summerhayes, referee in a recent fourth grade match, reported' that he had' had occasion ' t.o order a Poneke player, named Snellie off the field for striking, an opponent. The attack, said the: referee, was absolutely unprovoxed and ibrutal. It ;was decided to suspend the player, in question pending .his appearance ■ before the. committee. The leferee remarked incidentally that he did not'think Snellie was a bona fide Poneke player. " ~ . '. Reference was also made to the reprehensible behaviour of several Poneke boy's at the conclusion of the sixth-clubS ganie between Poneke and Technical College.
