HIGHER WAGES
MOVE BY GROCERS’ ASSISTANTS
Higher wages to meet the increased cost of living are being sought by the Wellington Retail Grocers’ Assistants Union, and at a special meeting ot the union the following motion was carried;—“That the question of wages in the awards under which the members of this union work be re-opened at the next sitting of the Court ot Arbitration, and *that_ we ask for minimum wage of £3 los, and 33 1-3 per cent, advance for all others.” Since the meeting this has been confirmed by ballot. The following officers were elected at the ahnual meeting of the union President, Mr J. Kennedy; vice-presi-dent. Mr J. Lancaster; secretary, Mr R. McKeen; treasurer, Mr H. Barton ; trustees, Messrs W. Clarke and J. Kennedy; auditors, Messrs J. O’Brien and J. Slack; executive, Messrs H. McNaught, D. McGregor, S. Butcher, H. Bouiden, B. Fergusson, delegates to Trade Council, Messrs J. Kennedy and H. Barton; delegates to L.R.0., Messrs B. McKeen and 0. Kennedy, v
