NOTES AND COMMENTS

• (By “Tohunga.”) Good acceptances have been received by the Auckland Racing Club for the second day’s events. Eight horses are engaged in the Remuera Hurdles, of two miles. Art heads the list with 11.9, hut the little horse might not he able to account for ouch strenuous runners as Sleight of Hand. Thrace and Parana, who will probably finish in that order. The Ranfurly Welter, of a mile, has attracted IS runners. They arc by no means a classical lot. Cadet _ stills heads th© list and he will have his work cut out to carry 10.7 over the mile. Independence should have a chance with lOst only to carry, and another possible is Canzonet with 10.2. The seven-furlong race has again drawn a large field. Hurry Up looks well with 9.13 up, and should run a good race. Manganmhoe has 10.10, and should be able to find a place with that weight. Parisian Diamond’s 12st will probably stop him, and the same remark applies to Tinopai. If Post Haste can reproduce some of his original form ho may be hard to beat. Reformation (9.9) looks as well in the Jumpers’ Flat, of a mile and a quarter, as anything else. Gunwale should run well with 9st, and so should Notability, who will carry 10.2. Swastika (11.9) and Jacaranda (11.5) appear to be the pick of the half-dozen engaged in the Hunt Club Cup, of three miles. There are only seven left in the Great Northern Steeplechase, run over three miles and a half. With but 10.3 to carry Tenacious appears to bo well in. His greatest trouble will be to account for the top weight. Wa.’mni, who will have to carry 12.7. Boro, who ran third on the first day, may be in it. After Cynic’s performance in the Great Northern Hurdles he must bo given a good chance for the stake in the Carbine Plate, run over a mile. Omahu should run into a nlace. Gatherer may find third money. The published weight of Movement in the Mannkan Hurdles at Levin was incorrect. It should have been 9.5, not 10.5.
