DISAFFECTED BRITISH POLICE

WARNED AGAINST STRIKE.

LONDON, May 30. Cabinet has sanctioned the Police Commissioner's order warning the police against a strike. Strikers will be instantly dismissed, and will never be permitted to rejoin the forces. The pensions plea will not be accepted as an excuse.

Officers and men are instructed to defend themselves, if necessary, by all legitimate means in the execution of their duty. (Received June 1, 5.5 p-m.) LONDON, May 31.

Mr E. Shortt, Secretary of State for Home Affairs, has issued a stern warning to the police force against striking. He said the Government had decided to pay pensionable constables not less than £3 10s. The Government could have no dealings with the Policemen's Union. Any strikers will forthwith be dismissed and lose their pensions. If a strike occurs, not only special constables hut every loyal citizen should como forward to assist in maintaining law and order. LONDON, May 30. A mass meeting of police is to be held in Hyde Park on Sunday, at which the result of the strike ballot will bo announced. DISSENT PROM STRIKE POLICY-

(Received June 2, 12.30 a.m.) LONDON, June I. Five hundred men, who dissent from the strike policy, have withdrawn from the Police Union. The latter offers to postpone action if Mr Lloyd George will consent to an inquiry to Mr JJustioe Sankey’s.
