THE TRAMWAYS
(To tho Editor "N.Z. Times.”)
Sir, —I call upon the tramway management to give the public a reason for the funny (to say the least) things that can be seen on tin: tramway lines There are notices on some poles Unit "all trams stop here.” On the opposite side a notice that "on request Iranis stop.” I live outside tho town. Going in and wanting to get out at one of the compulsory stops Ido so. Coming oul and wanting -to get out at the same place, I have to pull the bell. Residents in localities where-these notices are have to do the same on going in and out. Why ?
Why cannot tho trams from Miramar, Kilbirnie and Havaitai be started at such times as not to have to wait each side of the tunnel, for in some instances five minutes, to allow cars from either side to go through? I have waited until four cars came through. Why is the- small portion of the line from Wellington read to a few chaintowards Kilbirnie f-outh not duplicated, and so save unnecessary delays? It was said that there were no rails—that was a yarn, as tho whole of the extension from Constable street to ICilhirnie post office was completed. Why was it not done at first? Why was the Wellington Gas Company allowed to lay a main from just the other side of the junction ot Hamilton road and Wellington road, in such a way as if the duplication before’ alluded to Is made, the duplication will have to h" aver the main, if it is carried out as it should he? Lot members of the tramways committee come out and see for themselves. A SEFFEREE.
