WORK OF PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION.

MEETING AT KHANDALLAH.

A meeting of the Onslow residents wns held at Khandallah last night. Mr J. C. Smith, who presided, explained that a meeting had been held a fortnight previously with the object of forming in association for the purpose of developing to the fullest extant that portion of Wellington city. At the previous meeting a preliminary committee had been formed, and its tecommendations were how put forward. Mr Smith said he thought residents diu not fully appreciate the splendid suburb they possessed. The objects of the association wore to make for greater progress "in the district, to advocate necessary public works and an efficient administration of municipal affairs, to protect the interests of electors, and also to create and foster a healthy public opiuion on all questions affecting the welfare of greater Wellington and particularly of Onslow.

Mr A. E. Budd considered that wtiit.st there should be a united association it would be advisable to have a good working committee in each part of tho district and a central executive of members for any necessary works. The chairman and other member* pointed "out the benefit of having Uie united association, and it was finaUv decided that a united association should ne formed, and that meetings be held at INgaio and Khandallah. to collect reports for these portions of the district. Captain Charles McArthur was elected president of the association, Mr P. H. Hodgson was appointed secretary, pud Mr Hobbs treasurer, Mr H. K. Anderson "■is elected vice-president for Khandallah Messrs Worfold and J. O. Smith were appointed as tho Khandallah committee. In respect to Ngaio it was , decided to elect a committee later on, and a ml>nomiiiittce was set up to make the necessary arrangements.
