CONFERENCE EftDS REMITS PASSED AT FINAL SITTING. Tho Provincial r .,*,conferen.ce of the Farmers' Union, which has been sitting in Wellington during the week, concluded its deliberations yesterday. That the'' Agricultural Department be requested to declaro "Lantana" a noxious shrub, and prohibit, any ,Lantana seed being,, imported into thir, country.' , , That, the Department of Agriculture be asked! to institute research for the purpose of finding means to cope with tho Creeping or Water Fern, which is a great pest to settlers on the higb lands of the North Wellington and Taranaki provinces. That the attention .of the Mhr.ster for Finance be called to the. present unsatisfactory matters in connection with State and private money-lenciino; institutions. That -where security, is good the state should provide money at reasonable rates for farmers' needs, and should •'restore the table system of mortgage, and provide .in every mortgage covenant for payment ot sums before date without forfeiture of interest. .: OFFICERS ELECTED.;
