MASTERTON, May 26.
Messrs F.'Xi. 'Williams and R. O. Smith have been nominated for the vacant seat on the Masterton County Council. The death occurred yesterday of Mrs Basle, wife of Mr W. Eagle, of Eketahuna, and formerly of Masterton. Deceased was 45) years of age, and leaves a husband and four sons. Mr A. T. Hancock, of Tenui.has been appointed clerk of the Castlepoiut County Council. Mr E. ,J. Southgate trill manage the Wairarnpa senior representative team which is to play Hawke’s Bay at Napier on Jnne 3rd. The Masterton A. and P. Association will forward n remit to the agricultural conference urging that the Land Purchase Board be requested to proceed more vigorously with the settlement of returned soldiers on the land.
