TRAMWAY EXTENSION
ACROSS KELBURN A WESTERN SUBURBS LEAGUE FORMED. A well-attended meeting, held at Northland last evening, decided to press for improved tram facilities for Northland, Ko’.bnrn Extension, and, Tai'tville. Speakers said there was a largo population in the localities mentioned, and yet they had no adequate tram facilities. Less populous places were much better served. The shortest route was across from tho top of the civblo car-line. The opinion was expressed that a tram-line should be run along tho hill at Northland and connected up with the Wade'S town line- This would tap Wilton's Bush, and tho corporation would have a circular route. Some who advocated this plan said thait it would open up land suitable for building on, besides providing an additional means of reaching 'Wilton’sBush.
It was pointed out that prior to the municipal elections many candidates had agreed to support, the claims ot these localities to a better service, and it was also mentioned that tho Mayor dealt with the matter in a speech on the day of his installation.
The meeting decided to form a Western Suburbs’ Tramway Extension League, and a strong committee was eot up to endeavour to push matters forward. ,
