Captain F. "W. who was the lecturer at the Sailors' Friend Society on Thursday, met with a warm welcome on. rising to give his experiences on tho Western front for four and a-half years. With pathos and humour, the lecturer held .his audience for nearly two hours. The lecturer a special meed of praiso to the nurses and women workers who stood to their posts when hospitals wero bombed by 40 Hun airships. Tho chairman. Itenner (honorary secretary) and Captain Hooper, K.N.R., iwoved and seconded a- vote of thanks, which •«-;is carried with warmth. Tho lecturer auctioned the institute jug to meet certain expensea and the recovering of a billiard table for the men's use. The auction brought in £•4. .;'-•
