From Onr Special Reported WANGANUI, May 23. There ore eight acceptors for the Balgownie Handicap, of a mile and a distance. Cadet appears to be the best horse in the race, with Barberry as a good second string. The Grandstand Steeples, of two miles, has attracted a field of ten. Coalition, who won the Wanganui Steeples on the first day, must be a very hard horse to beat, and his most dangerous adversary will be the topweight, Master Strowan, who, with half a mile less to cover, meets Coalition on thirteen pounds better terms. Those two should see it out better than any of the others, with Bore to fill tho places up. Omahu appears to be the pick of the ten in the Rata. Hurdles for hacks run over 'thirteen furlongs. Omahu won his race very easily on tne first day, and should be able to repeat the dose in this race. Gumvale, with 9-9, after his performance on Thursday, is bound to carry a lot of money. Lochella will be a bit in the boom 'before the race is run. There are only five horses left in the May Hurdles, of one mile. Yankee Jaok should be a batter horse than Euripos at the weights, there being a etone and nine pounds between them. Whiro appears to be the best of the others.
There are eight runners in the Empire Handicap, of a mile and threequarters and a distance, Rewi Poto heading the list with 9.5. Ho, ■ Risingham, and Solo appear to be the- best of those engaged. The Farewell Handicap has not a atrong field. The two top-weights appear to be the best of the bunch. .Endure has a habit of turning up in this race. There are nine engaged in the Winter Oats Handicap, of six furlongs, and of those Silver Link, Demos, and Royal Chief should run well.
