POWERS OF HARBOUR BOARD. Mention of quarantine restrictions ■was made at last night’s meeting of the Harbour Board.. Mr L. Glover, a member of a deputation of waterside workers, asked if the board had power to prevent ships coming alongside when they knew there were cases of influenza on board. He reminded the board that, the men had decided not to work a vessel until six days after the lust case of influenza was taken off. Mr J. G. Harkness (chairman) replied that ho could not give a definite answer just then, but ho could assure the deputation that the men had the board’s sympathy. The point was whether the board bad legal power to refuse a vessel permission to come alongside tho wharf. The Auckland Harbour Board had been unable to do it. However, the board was quite willing to co-operate nith the men in the matter. Mr J. G. Bruce, a member of the deputation, said it was not right that the waterside workers should be forced to carry out regulations of their cwn. The Government should put into ft ice proper quarantine regulations.
