STOP-WORK MEETING AT AUCK« LAND.

AUCKLAND. May 21,
The tramway service was suspended for about two hours this afternoon while Officers of the Tramway Union waited on the general manager m connection with their grievances. It is understood that no satisfactory agreement was reached, and a meeting of tho union will be held to consider the position. The tiams resumed running after the business of the deputation had concluded. It is stated that the officers are being paid less than the other employees, whoso wages were advanced as the result of the recent agreement between the company, the City Council, and the union. Tho manager is waiting for advice from the authorities in London, which is long delayed. The officers are pressing for an immediate reply to their demands. TRAMS AND PEACE CELEBUA. TIONS. The Tramway Employees’ Union demands the conditions agreed upon by tho Wellington tramwaymen with regard to work during the Peace celebrations, and is threatening to stop tho service if they arc not granted.
