ACCOUNTANT STUDENTS' SOCIETY

At a meeting of the Wellington Accountants Students’ Society last" evening,' Mr 1/. T, Watkins grave an intersting and instructive address on "A Printer’s Factory Cost System.” Mr Watkins urged that a proper system of costing is valuable alike to the printer and the customer as it tends to prevent overcharging. Without such a system 'it follows that an excessive rate must ibs charged to one person to make up .for the loss made from another customer. The' printing trade is the sixth largest industry in the Dominion. He pointed out tho diversity of orders undertaken by printers, making a suitable Costing system an intricate affair. With specimen forms ho illustrated a system which collected information regarding the time worked, materials used, and other factors making up the cosst of a job. Numerous questions were asked by the members present and Mr Watkins was accorded n hearty vote of thanks for his interesting address.
