HOROWHENUA NOTES

May 17. The annual meeting of tho Horowhenua Horticultural Society was held on Friday night. Tho report and bal-ance-sheet were, considered satisfactory. The election of officers resulted as under:—Patron, Mr W. H. Simcox; president, Mr Frank Penn; vicepresidents, Mr H. Freeman and Major Addington; committee, Mesdames J. W. Hodgson, Huthwaite, L. Kilmister, Hodge, J. R. Bills, W. Baker, W. Summers, Masses Edmed and Bradey, Messrs H. Cockerell, H. Witchel], H. Small, A. W. Broadway, li. Kilmister, W. Summers, G. Griffiths, Revs. Petrie and Slade; secretary and treasurer, Mr S. Norgrove; assistant secretary, Miss Penn; hon. auditor, Mr P. Freeman. Advantage was taken at the meeting to mako presentations to Mr and Mrs W. H. Reynolds, two energetic members at tho committee, who leave noxt month for England. Mr Reynolds was handed a travelling-bag and Mrs Reynolds a suit-case.
