By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright WkDNEY, May 19.
Speaking at the Lyceum Hall, the Rev. S. J. Hoban said he could riot understand why the liquor vote in New Zealand so strongly favoured continuance, but it had been mentioned that a cable message was received by the New Zealand Alliance stating that the vote of one of the military camps in' England had been manipulated.
The Rev. R. S. Gray, president of the Now Zealand Alliance, interviewed yesterday by a "Times" reporter with regard to the abovo cable message, said: "The New Zealand Alliance has never made any statement concerning the soldiers' rote. I presume that Mr Ho'ban must have been referring to some private information regarding some unofficial vote taken 'beforo the official poll."
