TOWN PLANNING
CONFERENCE TO BE OPENED THIS MORNING.
The Governor-General is to open tho Dominion Town-planning Conference and Exhibition at the Town Hall at 10 o'clock this morning. Tho delegates; will bo welcomed • by tho Acting-Prime Minister (Sir James Allen) and the Mayor of Wellington (Mr J. P. Luke,. C.M.G., M.P.), and the presidential address will be delivered by the Minister for Internal Affairs, the Hon. G. W. Russell. " The following papers are to bo read and discussed on the opening day: "The History of and the Justification for Town-planning in New Zealand," Hon. Arthur Myers; "Existing Legislation, and the Town-plan-ning Legislation Proposed,'' by Mr G. P. Newton, Local Government Officer, Internal Affairs Department; "Townplanning Legislation," By Mr H. F. von Jianst; "Health and Well-being of tho People in Respect to Climate and Soils, thoir Homes and Environment," by Dr Frengley, Deputy-Chief Health Officer. In the evening there will O oe a continuous picture exhibition, illustrating various phases of town-plan-ning, and moving pictures of Continental cities will be screened. The exhibition, which is well arranged in the big hall, consists of a collection of remarkably fino photographs, plans and designs, many of which have been sent from various parts of Australia. A well-appointed library is also set apart for the use of delegates.
