New York, April , r |id. 1919 To the Commissioner, • J Electxin Lighting Depar.iSent, ■Wellington, N.Z.
My dear sir,—We are very much interested in the Press reference or /'The Public," published in New York City, calling attention to the remarkable record of Your department for tho fiscal year *l9lß. Will you be -kind enough to prepare an article for publication in "the American Otj,''allowing how you accomplished the rather remarkable results of a 13 per cent, profit on Your total capital investment? Will vou also be good c.nougi. to let us know the rate, the number of services, the operating cost, ' and the distribution of both revenue and expenses? In other words, what we desire is an article which will be helpful to American municipalities who are confronted with the problem of rising costs in the. operation of 'their local utilities. If you will send us some .illustrations which we may use in connection with your article, we snail be deeply grateful. Thanking you jn advance for your courtesy, and assuring you that we shall be very glad to send several copies of the issue in which it appears, we are,
Very truly yours, "The American City." (Signed) W. D. Heydecker, Aasociata Editor.- .
