SAILORS’ FRIEND SOCIETY
A large crowd of men from ships W port met their hostess* Miss B. - Van( Staveren, at her popular concert oif Thursday at the Sailors’ Friend few cietv, when songs, choruses, and reow tals' filled a delightful programme. The performers were Mrs Flanagan, the. Misses B; Van Staveren, Bhotlandor, and Van Staveren, and Messrs Hogan, Morley, and Williams. Mrs Flanagan was at the piano. Mr Moore, missioner, was in tho chair. _ The competitions produced a sheaf of short stories, the winners being men from tho Kia Ora, Northumberland, and KaikoUra; The prizes came from Mesdames Flanagan and • Hislop.
