(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, May 15. The Tourist Department, in response to a request by Mr W. H. Field, M.P, has offered £59 for the improvement o the Jit. Hector track over thlf Tara runs. This amount will, no doubt, hi expended at the earliest possible mo mcait, and the track put in good order while £SO will also be spent on the erec tion of a hut. The rout© over the Tara ruaa is now popular, and next summe it is hoped to have tourists from variou parts of the Dominion. The Bishop of JiVolEngton will hold : confirmation service in Otaki about th middle of Juno. At the Otaki Anglican Church thi afternoon, Mr Leslie Freeman, son o Mr H. Freeman was married to Mis Mitchell. The Dev. G. F. Petrio wa the officiating xninistei. A cottage, owned br Mr Kirby an occupied by Mr H. was-de ■irovod by fire nl Levin. The continued spell of dry weathis responsible for a shortage*, of. wate in the Otaki river, and trout are iim ishing in thousands.
