GISBORNE, May 16. Tho Minister for Public. Works v Sir William Fraser) arrived in Gisborne on Tuesday and left on a tour of tho coast, going as far as the Waiapu river. Ho inspected the sites of two proposed bridges over the Waiapu river. In reply to deputations, the Minister said that the main bridge at Waiapu would bo repaired, as soon as possible and the construction of the second bridge proceeded with as soon us men and material wore available. The Minister promised a grant of £3OOO for a road from To-laga Bay to Gisborne. Mr Fraser returned to-day, and will leave for tho south on Sunday.
