SHIPPING SHORTAGE

AN IMPERATIVE TELEGRAM.

HAWKE’S BAY FACED WITH CALAMITY.

Frees ■Aesooia.Uori

v , HASTINGS. May 16. Replying to the Hon. Mr Gnthrie’s telegram that the RarangaV loading at Napier would be expedited, Mr H. M. Campbell, president of the Farmers’ Union, has telegraphed as follows: "More relief must bo provided at once, else the district will bo faced with a financial calamity. Many thousands of killable stock are still here, and'unless dealt with soon they and many others will die. Largo numbers of sheep are already dying, and others are being killed and skinned. Now is the time for you to assert your authority, and let us have several boats without delay! The position is far too serious to bother with any committee. Act yourself.”
