CHRISWOHUROH, May 15. From present indications the iron trail linking the West and East Coasts will not he in running order Tor possibly another four years instead of the two years promised by the Minister for Public Works. This, at least, is the opinion of the Christchurch delegates, who officially inspected Arthur's Pass tunnel to-day. One mile seventeen chains of the tunnel require to be completed, but this is the worst portion. One mil© seven chains have been completed on the Canterbury side and three miles one chain on the West Coast side. TO ACCELERATE THE WORK. Press Association. HOKITIKA, May 15. Representatives from Canterbury and Westland are conferring at Otira today regarding moans and measures to accelerate the Arthur's Pass tunnel works. An inspection of the through route is being made. The Canterbury visitors will stop over till Saturday, when they return with the Minister for Mines, who will be interviewed on tho works.
