McGillivray. traffic manager of the Wellington'-- Corporation tramway departmentf-'made some' statements on the "universal" tram fare idea, which was advocated during the recent election campaign. Mr MoGillivray said that the New Zealand section system was copied from' the .English system. The "universal" system was; used in America, where it had failed, and in recent years thirteen tramway concerns had abandoned- it in favour of the •ection system.
