The Hon. Arthur Myers, Minister for Customs, informed a “Times representative yesterday that, acting on the advice of the Minister for Agriculture, ho had given instructions to the various Collectors of Customs throughout the Dominion to grant permits for the export of anv quantities of veal to British or Allied dtestin.ati'one. At the same time, he was forwarding a recommendation tq the Governor-General that the Oder-in-Council gazetted on April 10th, 1916, he amended to allow of -the exportation its usual, but until this approval was / obtained it would bo necessary for exporters to make application to the various Collectors for permits. ’ “This action,” said Mr Myers, “has been taken, as I am advised that feed for the purpose of carrying stock through the winter is insufficient, oiling to the dry weather conditions experienced during the summer and autumn over large areas of *ho Dominion, more especially in the Hawke’s Bay and Auckland districts.
