The Westmoreland is to leave Bluff on Sunday for Wellington, where she is due on Tuesday to complete her cargo. The vessel will leave on the 25th mat. for Livorpoo via Panama.
The Kamo was to leave Greymouth at 10 o’clock last night for V/ellington.
The Mokoia, leaving Wellington next Tuesday for Auckland via ports, will take cargo only for Napier and Gisborne. The Kurow is to get away from Wellington to-dav for Bancouver. Mr H. M. Hurley has succeeded Mr M. L. Singleton as chief officer of the Karamu.
Mr A. B. Barker, late purser of the Arahura, is proceeding to Sydney by the Manuka for orders. Mr W. Skeates, late assistant purser of the Niagara, has joined the Mararoa in a similar capacity. A numbeir of men are engaged in removing the troop fittings from the liner Bhamo, now berthed at the Victoria wharf. Dunedin. The vessel will sail probably to-day for Oamaru, where she will load wool and tallow for London. She will subsequently come to Wellington to oomplelte her cargo. Mr J. Murohie, purser of tho Pateena, has transferred to the Waimarino In a similar capacity. Mr J. Bisk has joined the former vessel as purser. The Hinemoa is expected to have her overhaul completed in time to permit tho vessel to sail on Monday for the lighthouses at the Brothers. Okuri Point. Jackson Hoad, and Karori Book.
The Maheno was placed in dry dock at Port Chalmers on Monday for periodical inspection, cleaning, and painting. The Ngatoro is to leave Wellington todav for Greymouth to load again for this port.

Monday with explosives ‘for Nelson, Westport, and Greymouth. ’The Port Sydney, due at Wellington to-morrow afternoon from Timaru. is to sail at daybreak to-morrow week for London via Panama.
The Kaitrna. now at Auckland, on completion of discharge will sail for Newcastle to load for Wellington. Mr A. Mercer has ioined the Mapourika as third officer. Mr O. B. Walker, second engineer of the vessel, has come ashore at Wellington. The- Wanganni Harbour Board's elip at Putiki has proved a useful and payable . adjunct to the port, the total revenue received last year from dues amounting to .£375 at a working cost of £43, added to an interest charge of £143, leaving a surplus revenue of £lB9. Steps are Being taken to acquire additional land required to enlarge the slip in order to accommodate larger vessels. , Mr E. G. F. Zohrab advises that the steamer Stella is again duo at Wellington on Monday from Dunedin. There is a possibility of the vessel proceeding from here to Auckland. The Karu is loading 40 tons of cargo at. New Plymouth for Wellington, hut will come to this port via , Tarakoho. At Tarakohe she is to load 100 tons of cement for Wellington and 200 tons for Lyttelton. The Karu is duo here on Saturday morning from Tarakohe, and is to sail on Saturday night for Lyttelton. * TO-DAT'S BERTHAGE. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advises that the liner Tainui is to sail from the Glasgow wharf, Wellington, at 3 p.m. to-dav for London, via I’anama. All passengers must ’embark before 2 p.m. NORTHUMBERLAND DISCHARGES. At 6 o'clock last evening a start was made to unload the big liner Northern beriand, which has been delayed in commencing to discharge owing to the watersiders declining to work her because there were eases of typhoid on board when she reached Wollingion from Homo. The vessel discharged until lo o’clock last night and will resume this morning. She is expected to soil on Saturday for Melbourne. TALHNE AT AUCKLAND. The Tnlune arrived at Auckland from Fiji on -Tuesday morning, aud anchored in the stream. She was granted pratique, and berthed after noon at the position relinquished bv the Corinthio at the Queen's wharf. The Talune sailed from Westport for Suva on April 27th, and arrived at -Suva on May 3rd. She nailed again on May sth. A smooth sea and fine passage was experienced on the pus sago to Westport. but alter leaving the New Zealand port on the outward run heavy seas wore the order until arrival at Suva. pn the return trip fine weather was enjoyed. Tho usual consignment of Fiji bananas wore loaded for Auckland. - KINI'S MISHAP. Tho Union collier Kini arrived at Dunidin on Saturday morning from 4iroymonth via Bluff, and was berthed at the Kitchenar street wharf to discharge u paid cargo of coal The vessel left Bluff on Thursday evening, and while steaming down the harbour a faoluro occurred to tho high-pressure cylinder cover. Tilp- Kini”s engines were immediately stopped, and the engineers succeeded in carrying out temporary repairs during
the night, tho voyage to. Dunedin being resumed at 8 a.m. on Friday. The ac- : indent did not aflect tho Kini’s speed to any groat extent, ns she averaged seven knots on the run to Dunedin. The necessary repairs were expected to bo completed in time for the Kini to sail yesterday for Oamaru, Wellington, and Greymouth. A HUGE SCHOONER. The large American five-masted schooner John W. Weils, which had been in port at Melbourne for 69 days, sailed from the Victorian port on April 29th (or San Francisco. The John W. Wells is one ot tho largest schooners built on the Pacific coast, and px-obably one of tho largest vessels of her rig in the world. She arrived at Melbourne on February 12th with 2,(KX»,OW)ft of redwood lumber from tho United States. Her outward loading consists of 12,000 bales of wool and about -MX) tons of iron. On her arrival at the American port she is to be fitted up as an auxiliary schooner, and a powerful Diesel oil engine will be installed, 17T A OBA FROM LIVERPOOL. The Shaw. Saviil and Albion liner Kia Ora, from Liverpool via Panama, and Lytteltqn, arrived in tho stream at Welllington yesterday morning, and berthed in the afternoon at the King’s wharf to discharge. ’lhe vessel is Co leave hero on Saturday for Lyttelton and Dunodin to put out remainder of her cargo. ’ A CHINESE STEAMER. A Chinese steamer to arrive shortly at Sydney is called the Hwah-Ting. and was originally the German steamer Deika Rdckmers. Like many more Germans this vessel was lying at a neutral port when war broke out. and was safe for a rime. However, when China declared war on Germany. the Deika Bickmers, in common with other German ships then lying in Chinese ports was commandeered by the Chinese Government. She was called tho Hwah-Ting. and under that name is bound from Shanghai to Sydney for outward loading. The Hwah-Ting is 4176 tons gross, so sho should prove a handy ship for China-
