GENERAL RUSSELL
THE WELLINGTON RECEPTION.
In connection with the "Wellington reception to Major-General Sir Andrew Russell, K. 0.8., K.0.M.G., A.D.0., Commander of the. New Zealand Diril ii," hM I that Gene* ral Russell, accompanied by Lady Russell, fall leave the Midland Hotel at II a.m. to-morrow, and, escorted by returned soldiery, will drive through the principal streets of the city to the Town Hall, where ho will be received by the Acting-Prime Minister (Sir' James Allen), members of Cabinet, the Mayor (Mr J. P. Luke, C.M.G., M.P.),
and the civic authorities. The route to be - followed will be Lambton ..quay, : Lower Willis street, ."Upper Willis street, Vivian street, Cuba street. Manners street. Lower Willis and Mercer streets to the main entrance of the Town Hall. The returned soldiers will provide the guard of honour at the Town Hall, and an artillery salute will be fired from the saluting battery at general headquarters, . Mount Cook, as tho General arrives at tho Town Hall.
The public reception at the Town Hall will commence at noon. The Mayor asks the citizens to display as much bunting as possible, to line the route, _ and to release returned soldiers in their employ in order that they may take part in the reception to their General.
The guard of honour at General Russell’s reception will be composed of returned soldiers. Major C. Gascoigne will be in charge. A parade for issue of rifles will be held at the Drill . Hall, Buckle street, to-night, at 730 o’clock, and the secretary asks that all .j*members shall he in attendance*
