STATEMENT BY MINISTER FOR MINES. Pre«* A *«oMa.tfon. HOKITIKA. May 14. In the course of an address to the Westland Mining Conference the Min. ister for Mines said ho was preparing the most progressive Mining Bill yet put before the country. The measure was to be introduced next session. He also had in preparation an Industries Bill for the past year with the object of assisting in establishing industries of a reproductive nature. Referring to agricultural matters, the Minister said that the department w T as about to establish an experimental farm. He recognised the future of the district and spoke in support of the Otira tunnel as' a factor in the future of the Dominion apart from district importance.
