BOWLING
■ MEETING OF WELLINGTON CENTS E. A meeting of- the executive of Wellington Bowling Centre was held lust evening. Mr G. Hendry presided, other delegates present being Messrs 8. H. Underwood (Newtown), \V. H. Morran (Ly'all Dav), .1. Keith (Victoria), J. Robertson (l'etone), A. Wylie (Wellington,, E. Plimmer CKHandallaU), J. Muir (Otaki), EL J. Hill (Te Hiwi), V. Hiinock (Thomdon), H. Meyer (Eastbourne), 1. Meadowcroft (Kelburn), and J. J. Koberts (Upper Hutt). t ' . ' Whoa the minutes of the previous meeting had been read Mr Muir objected to them being passed, as they were rot a true record of the meeting. Mr Muir had forwarded a letter to the secretary intimating that he intended to move to rescind n portion of the minutes disapproving of his action in connection with the Trentham art union scheme. Ho emphatically denied that the scheme v. an his, and it was pointed out to him that tho motion on the minutes was to the effect that the centre disapproved' of Mr Muir's action in connection with the Trentham art union tickets. Mr Muir then said he desired to move that tlin word "disapproved" be deleted from the minutes. On being put to the meeting, tho motion was lost.
Mr Hill brought up the ouestion of the presentation of the Gisborne Rose Bowl. In the past it had been the practice to donate the trophy to the team which scored the highest aggregate rumber of points in section play at the annual centre tournament. This, said .Mr FJill, was not a progressive step, as it tended to promote driving competitions instead of scientific bowling. He, therefore, moved -.—" That, in all future centre tournaments, the rose bowl be allotted to tho team that has the least number of points scored against it in section play." Mr Robertson, who seconded the motion, said it was a step in the right direction, and he was certain the majority of bowlers would readily approve ol the change. The motion was agreed to unanimously.
Mr J. P. Smith, of Napier, wrote stating that ho would bo in Wellington shortly, and during his visit would, be pleased to level up the greens at his own expense and time. It was pointed out that Mr Smith was an expert in the levelling of gTeens, and took-the work up as a hobby. It. was decided to give Mr Smith a cordial welcome. Mr J. J. Roberts informed the executive that ho intended to resign the secretaryship of the -centre at the annual meeting. He brought the matter forward at the present time in order that a r.ew secretary might be appointed.
