Twelvo matches have been played between tho two clubs. Wellington having won, five and Canterbury four, while three enri>>l in a tie, viz., in 1879, 1892, and 1916. That tho teams have- kept together vevy well is also evident when the contest if vie-wed from another angle, viz., number oi aames won—Wellington's total being TSI to Canterbury's 7<>4. As a set-off to Wellington's slight superiority in earlier matches, Canterbury has done splendidly in the later contest*. In fact. Wellington has not won a match since 1914. the last four annual contests havingyielded Canterbury three wins and one tic. On thi* occasion tho southern team will bo exceptionally strong, as it will include Mr Severne, tho Canterbury champion, who haa returned from tne war. Mr O. H. Clutten. a former member «f the Canterbury Club, will umpire for the southerners At this end. The following have been chosen to represent the local r.lub on tho assumption that fourteen boards are to bo used (as was done last venr) •.-'•Messrs A. W. O. Davios (captnin), Barnes. W. E. Mason.
