Replying to the "StiaV'chargw regarding the condition of the 1916-17 wheat, Mr Holman, in a, statiembriV says that while the wheat had deterio-; rated to some extent, its freshiiesi and wholesomeuess were unaffected.. The talk about its being affected mice and weevils was sensation-mongering.-The lower portions of the stock which; were affected ,by mice were, not used; The British. Government accepted flour containing 50 per cent, of this wheat. During the present week the Government had test bakings made, and the analyst reported that the T>read met "all the requirements..Qf the Pure,,Eoo4 Act.'
