MAKURA PASSENGERS
REPLY TO THEIR PROTEST,

The general manager of the Union Company, replying to the protest by the passengers booked by the Makurft to Sydney against the delayed completion of their voyage, expressed regret that it has been impossible to provide •earlier transhipment owing to complications caused by influenza and the watersiders’ refusal to work vessels. Everything possible would be done to overcome the difficulty. A meeting of passengers this morning expressed the opinion that the explanation was inadequate, and resolved that unless something more satisfactory was forthcoming drastic action womd be taken. It was further resolved -to interview the local manager of the company in regard to accommodation.
