The Manawatu Racing Club brought its autumn meeting to a very successful conelusion to-day in good -weather. Goon fields were engaged in'most of the events, and-the racing throughout was very good. Desert-Gold'avam stripped and accounted for the field in the Manawatu Stakes easily. She was pitted against some smart horses, notably Warplane, Amythas, Helena, and Marula. She won her race in -“od circumstances, and received sn ovation on .returning to the paddock. Marihiku made .no the Cloyerlea Nursery Handicap, nothing else having a loot in- .Nobleman and Vagabond fought put a great finish in the main handicap, the letter wmnir.fr through pure generalship. Chimera, Demos, and Tigritiya fought out a great finish for the Borough Handicap, very little separating the three at the end of the fight. During the dav the machine handled .£38,141, making a total of .274,233 for the meeting. Last meeting the receipts were ,£91,310. hut of course bn that occasion there was the added exeftment of a possible contest between Desert Gold and Biplane, which drew many people to Palmerston who would otherwise not have been there. Master Lupin was picked out as the winner by the investors, Reformation being the second choice. Reformation took the lead 1 at the start from Master Lupin and Vacuum, and led the field to the lack of the course, where the favourite went out in front with Reformation, Multum, and Vacuum. Approaching the straight the, favourite moved up and showed .the way into the home turn. Vacuum chased him but he had no chance. Master Lupin winning easily by four lengths. Hurry Up jumped out in front at the start, , but was soon displaced by Gold Problem,*' who took the field to the straight, with Munster as a companion. They bunched up as they rounded the corner, Gold Problem and Munster still having the advantage. At the half distance Hurry Up got through, and went on to win by half a length, a similar distance separating second and third, Paddington Green, being fourth. Time. Cadet, who was ridden by Gray on tne first day,' was mounted by Emerson for the Ava Welter. • He finished up favourite with Pretty Bobby (whom Gray rode) second choice, j Glentour made the running at the start. Tho Speaker, Pretty Bobby, and Golconda being in the running. Railand joined the leaders at the turn into the straight, where Glentour still led. At this point The Speaker moved along, and was in a winning position at tho distance. He caught Glentour opposite the stands, and won by a length. Pretty Bobby was fourth, and then Cadet. The Lowry bracket was made favourite for the Manawatu Stakes. Hetaua was the first out, but soon gave way to Mamie, with Desert Gold in third place. Approaching tho straight Marula led Lady Ball and Miss Gold. At , tho distance those three were racing in a lino, with Desert Gold right behind them. There was a very fine finish, Desert Gold getting through on tho rails and winning by two lengths comfortably. There was onlv a neck between Lucid and V. arplqne, both of whom came out of the ruck at the last. Hetaua was fourth, then Miss Gold and Amythas. Time. Imin 13 4-ssec.

Bindle was made a better favourite than Royal Stag for the Cloverlea Nursery Handicap, the only defection being Ermine. They got away together, the first to break the line being Mnrihikn, who stayed in front until the end of the race. In the straight Speechmaker and Boyal Stag set out after the filly* but neither had a chance, Murlhiku passing

There were only two defections in the Borough Handicap, Demos, Chimera, and Tigritiya being backed in that order. Demos was the first away, with Tigritiya close up to him, Nystad being badly left. Chimera took the lead as the field entered the straight, and with Demos and Tigritiya had the race to themselves. Chimera passed the post half a length iu front of Demos, who was a similar distance in front of Tigritiya, with Gold Problem and Potentiality next. Time. Imin 13 2-ssoc.
