Sir J. A. Simon, in tho course of a speech at London, said that tho preference proposals wore so trumpery that it was difficult to raise serious opposition to them; but tho Liberals must resist tho formula. The real fiscal lesson of the war was to so adjust finance as to prevent national bankruptcy. This could not proceed from peddling nonsense about giving preference to New Zealand on musical boxes.
