HOROWHENUA NOTES
OTAKI, May 7: (From Our Own Correspondent.) Dairy oows realised from JaiO 5s to .£2l 10s at Mr Vernon's saJo at Levin a tew days ago. Uuring the past few weeks several bicycles havo been stolen in this 'district, and yesterday an offender was brought before tho Court. Ho pleaded guilty, and was fined J!3. It is now stated that a motor-ear is missing from Paekakariki. Tho fire thief was in evidence in Otnki at the recent fire, and several articles, saved from the burning building, were stolon.
Mr G. P. Catley, of Te Horo, has said his farm to Mrs-Corry, of Palnatua.. It is stated also that Mr fill Allen has sold out, and that other farms aro likeilv to chaiwo hands. At a meeting of the Otaki Maori Racing Club yesterday, Mr J. Cameron was appointed starter in place of the late Mr Hartgill. It was decided to allow the Citizens' Committee the use of the course for the* Peace celebrations, provided such did not take place between May 31st and Juno Oth. Provided the weather is favourable on Sunday, a party of Otaki people will make an ascent of Table Top.
