ARRANGEMENT FOR CHRISTCHURCH RECEPTION.
Press Association. CHRISTCHUROH, May 6. A fitting reception is to bo tendered to Major-General Sir Andrew Russell on arrival at Lyttelton : next week. Dr Xhaeker, M.P.," Mayor-elect, has telegraphed to Captain T. Y. Seddon, U.P., who was for a time on General Russell's staff, inviting him to Christchurch to assist in the welcome. ' Thia afternoon Dr Thacker received the fo!owing reply from Cnptain Seddon from Wellington: "I am leaving!' to-morrow with the Hon. W. D. S. MncDonald via Nelson for a mining conference at Ho-, kitika, and I regret exceedingly I shall bo uiiablo to take- part in your reception to my General. May your councillors and Canterbury generally give a fitting welcome homo to New Zoaland's greatest soldier."
