London after a visit to tho devastated areas and the Australian •troops;- "Bad -weather prevented the mall steamer leaving Ostend, and _ he travelled in a destroyer from Dunkirk. He considers that the Socialist Conference did much useful work. Mr Ryan opposed the resolutions in favour of the League of Nations and interfering with the tariffs, and dko the making of regulations endangering the idea of a "White Australia. Mr Ryan left tho Conference before it reached the resolution favouring the restoration'-of the Gexmai colonies. Mr Ryan will return e»; next week aboard the Kai-ser-i-hina.
