THE NEW COUNCILS

INSTALLATION CEREMONY. Some of the ceremonies of installing the newly-elected Mayors and councillors will be held to-day. At noon the Mayor and councillor* of Eastbourne will be sworn in. The new Mayor is Mr F. H. Walker. At Karori and at Miramar the Tictors at thp recent polls will be sworn in this eveniiig. Mx S. M. Stone is the new Mayor of Miramar, and Mr B. G. H. Burn has been re-elected Mayor of Karori.

At Petono, where Mr J. W. McEwan has teen again returned at the head of the poll, the installation%eremony will also bo held this evenink. Lower Hutt* will not havo its Mayor and Councillors sworn in till Monday evening next.
