In Sydney the cessation of racing has hit so many people very hard that a Government depot was established at tho Beaufort Club, Pitt street, f'r tho purposo of giving relief to those associated with that business. Only proved bona-fide oases arc to bo relieved, and with Mr W. Dunn as depot-master and Messrs >T. Harper. S. Bryant, E. Allen, F. Walton, C. Young. G. Overhill, and J. Algie as an advisory committee, there is no chance of anyone getting a little “easy money.’’ Not, however, that there is any likelihood of many attempts in that .direction.
