MEETING OF SEAMEN
ADHERES TO FORAEBR RESOLU-
TION
A special meeting of the Wellington local of the Seamen’s Union was held in the Trades Hall yesterday morning. There were only about 50 members present, 20 of whom were men from the larger steamers in port. It was quite evident from tho scarcity of tho attendance that the majority of the members of the crews of the coastal fleet have either reshipped in larger vessels or have obtained other occupations. Tho present depute with owners of smaller coastal steamers was discussed and the meeting again adhered to the proposal of the Alinister for Marine (the Hon. G. W. Russell) advocating a ronnd-thc-table conference with the shipowners, with tho Alinister in the chair. The now war regulations requiring aliens to apply to Sub-Inspector Mollveney for passports by the 22 nd inst. before joining ships were explained and discussed.
