“SWAT THAT FLY”

VIGOROUS SUMMER OAAIPAIGN.

Press Association GISBORNE, October iU

With the assistance of Professor Kirk, of Victoria College, Wellington, the Gisborne Borough Council is instituting a vigorous campaign against flies for the summer months. The slogan, “swat that fly,’’ is being heartily taken up, and pamphlets are being issued to householders containing instructions on how to achieve the best results. Professor Kirk is giving demonstrations on the making ot “tanglefoot” and other snares for the enemy.

Replying to a question put to turn by Mr J. Visor Biwu, member tor Napier, Mr Massey stated in the House of Representatives yesterday ; ■‘The valuers employed by wool-brokers only value wool in the interests of growers. The Imperial Government has appointed other valuers with special Bradford experience to protect its interests. Some of the valuers appointed by the Imperial Government are of military age, but, being citizens of the United Kingdom, and only temporarily resident in New Zealand, are not registered as reservists. The Government is not aware that nnv wool-scourer is employed valuing wool and bides and receiving £BOO por annum and expenses and at the same time conducting large scouring works.”
